The Beat Junkies originated around the Bay area of California. The group was established in 1992 by J-Rocc. The original members included Curse, Rhettmatic, Melo-D, Icy Ice, Symphony, & What?!. Experienced veterans on the scene, they first came together at a house party where K-Def was spinning. The pair are cousins, but it was a friend who actually spotted Larry-O’s rhyme skills. Once Larry-O had rapped outside the jam for K-Def the pair formed Real Live.

Dred Scott

Dred Scott was born to two actors/dancers who met while touring with productions; his mother was the first African-American female dancer to appear on the Ed Sullivan Show. Scott received some training in jazz as a child, but was excited enough by the hip-hop innovations of Run-D.M.C. to pursue that direction instead.
